Miss SA Contest Heats Up
“Crown Chasers”, the behind-the-scenes Miss South Africa television series, has got tongues wagging as Lebohang Raputsoe became the first finalist to be eliminated.
The episode premiered on Sunday, 9 July, as the first of a five-part series that will air every week until just seven of the Top 12 finalists are left to compete in the finale held at Sun Bet Arena in Pretoria, Gauteng on 13 August.
Despite her loss, the 24-year-old HR professional was confident as she spoke with the media on Monday, 10 July, saying: “I did my best,” before adding: “‘Crown Chasers’ was a roller coaster of emotions; intimidating, fun, sad, exhausting and liberating.”
While each day has been challenging, the beauty queen hopeful mentioned that she had found the final day – in which contestants justified why they believe they were the best candidate to wear the coveted headpiece – to be the hardest.
When asked whether she would do it again, Raputsoe replied: “At first, I thought not,” before she went on to clarify: “However, after careful thought, I can say that I am content with ‘God’s timing’. I see how the journey has strengthened my character, and yes, I would do it all over again.”
